“Moon in Motion” is my way to connect the human and earthly with the celestial, an embodiment of our species’ fascination with the moon, and the desire to explore space and go beyond our home planet. Using only real compositions and photographic timelapse and video capture, each piece is the result of a combination of many factors coming together through meticulous planning, and aims to showcase a scene in ways not normally observed by the average bystander. The work is brought to life using augmented reality techniques that connects the static physical component with its digital motion counterpart.

This series explores the changing environment around some of Dubai’s major landmarks as day turns into night using various animated time slicing techniques. By combining several images taken over hours into a single final artwork, the work highlights the contrasting shades and sceneries over time in ways that aren’t normally evident to the human observer. Each 1/1 video piece includes a custom produced soundtrack, and is accompanied by a framed print for the first collector, triggering an Augmented Reality experience to combine the digital and physical world and enabling the buyer to enjoy a reference to their NFT on their wall at home.

These carpets, originally hand-woven by Afghan women, are brought to digital life in this NFT collection, creating an essential new source of revenue for the hard-working female weavers and their families. The collection is headlined by The Pontifex Carpet, the physical of which was gifted to Pope Francis in The Vatican City in 2016 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the UAE. These NFTs have been made in collaboration with Zuleya by FBMI (Fatima bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative) and were unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art in 2021 where they were displayed on digital canvases alongside some of the best contemporary art in the world.

The Art + Tech Virtual NFT Workshop and mentorship programme, which took place between 6-15 June, was organised in partnership with MORROW collective’s social enterprise partner, the Fatima Bint Mohamed Initiative. MORROW collective is an NFT fine art consultancy founded in March 2021. University students studying art as well as technology streams came together with MORROW collective, who acted as mentors for the course, and guest contributors who taught the students about these new digital art forms. For this year’s edition, art students were paired with those studying technology to create their own NFTs, which will be exhibited during the fair in November. Selected NFTs will also be awarded in categories of Artists’ Choice, MORROW’s Choice, and more. These artworks will be displayed at the 2022 edition of Abu Dhabi Art.
