Description
This is an animation made from "Norma's Well", a carpet from the designer series. The physical carpet will be sent to the first collector of this NFT.
These carpets, originally hand-woven by Afghan women, are brought to digital life in this NFT collection, creating an essential new source of revenue for the hard-working female weavers and their families.
The collection is headlined by The Pontifex Carpet, the physical of which was gifted to Pope Francis in The Vatican City in 2016 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the UAE.
This carpet was designed by Norma Kamali and hand woven by women in Afghanistan. Zuleya and FBMI have partnered with MORROW collective to animate this iconic carpet. The effect is that the viewer travels through the optical illusion into the depths of the well.
These NFTs have been made in collaboration with Zuleya by FBMI (Fatima bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative) and were unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art in 2021 where they were displayed on digital canvases alongside some of the best contemporary art in the world.
