By Maitha Muhsen Mohammed Albreiki This humourous donkey character is derived from the Emirati urban legend: Himarat Al Kayla. This story, of a monstrous creature with the head and limbs of a donkey and the body of a human was used to scare children. Parents would tell their children that if they went out at night that ‘himarat al kayla’ would eat them.
